Man waving sword arrested in downtown Vancouver - Police arrested a sword-wielding man on Monday afternoon after a dramatic confrontation in downtown Vancouver.

Transit Police first received calls around 1:30 p.m. stating the man was on the SkyTrain at Metrotown, allegedly acting irrationally and repeatedly unsheathing the sword. Meanwhile, Vancouver police cordoned off the area to bystanders.

The man then allegedly became increasingly irrational and continued to unsheath and wave the sword around, said VPD Const. Lindsey Houghton.

"Out of concern for the man's safety, the safety of bystanders who were gathering nearby, the Vancouver Police Department Emergency Response Team members deployed multiple rounds from an Arwen gun," Houghton said.

"The Arwen rounds were ineffective and the man continued to wave the sword. Houghton said the Arwen rounds and Taser were ineffective likely because the man was wearing thick clothing, including a leather jacket.

Biografi Pangeran William - William Arthur Philip Louis

Prince William began his education at Mrs Mynor's Nursery School in west London in September 1985, aged 3. In January 1987, William was enrolled at Wetherby School, also in London, and was a pupil there until July 1990. He spent five years at Ludgrove School from September 1990 until July 1995. Prince William is currently at Eton College, Windsor, where he will study geography, biology and history of art at A Level, after sitting 12 GCSEs.

Prince William's first public appearance was on a visit to Wales on St David's Day (1 March), at a service at Llandaff Cathedral, aged 8. In May 1995, Prince William accompanied his mother, father and brother to the 50th anniversary of VE (Victory in Europe) commemorations in Hyde Park; he also accompanied his family to the VJ (Victory in Japan) Day 50th anniversary commemorations in front of Buckingham Palace and in the Mall in August 1995.

Prince William is a keen sportsman and prefers football, rugby, tennis, swimming and water polo. At Ludgrove, he was rugby and hockey team captain and represented the school at cross-country running. William is also a crack clay pigeon shooter, winning the school's prize in 1994. He has acted in school plays, and enjoys reading and film-going.

Many feel Prince William has many of the characteristics the world loved in his Mother.

Prince William Celebrated his 18th Birthday on June 21, 2000. In his honor many nations of the the world released several commemorative stamps, coins and First Day Covers.

Affected by both his parents' divorce in 1996 and his mother's tragic death in 1997, the tall and handsome young William publicly stated his dislike for the press, and expressed discomfort with the growing attention he received from love-struck adolescent girls. William gives the impression of being a well-mannered, responsible and mature young man who shows a strong sense of duty and loyalty to the royal family, fully aware of the role he is to play in the future as the King of England.

Upon his graduation from Eton, William took a break from his studies to visit South America and Africa. He then attended Scotland's St Andrew's University, where he received a degree in geography in 2005. Following in the footsteps of his younger brother, Prince Harry, William joined the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst as a military cadet and received his commission as a second lieutenant in the Household Cavalry in December 2006. In 2008, he was appointed to be a Royal Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter. He is now training to be a search and rescue pilot with the Royal Air Force.

Along with his military career, William supports numerous charities, including serving as patron to Centrepoint, an organization for homeless youth, and the Tusk Trust, which is dedicated to the preservation of African wildlife. In 2007, William and his brother Harry hosted a special concert to celebrate their late mother and raise funds for charities that Princess Diana supported during her life as well as charities supported by the princes.

As the future king of England, William's personal life has been the subject of much media attention. He had been romantically linked to Kate Middleton; the couple met while attending St. Andrew's University. Prince William and Catherine Middleton became engaged in October 2010 in Kenya, East Africa, during a 10-day trip to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy to celebrate William passing his RAF helicopter search and rescue course. Clarence House announced the engagement on 16 November 2010. The couple married in Westminster Abbey on 29 April 2011, (St. Catherine's Day) with the day declared a bank holiday in the United Kingdom.

As for the two years devoted to the study of logic, and of the subjects classed under the name of philosophy, it would not have been too long a time if those questions of philosophy had been honestly given us. To enlarge and seriously cultivate the intelligence in a Roman Catholic college is a thing absolutely out of the question. Rome, in her colleges and convents, brings up, or raises up, the youth from their earliest years; but to what height does she permit the young man or woman to be raised? Never higher than the feet of the Pope!! As soon as his intelligence, guided by the Jesuit, has ascended to the feet of the Pope, it must remain there, prostrate itself and fall asleep.

The Pope! What a privilege it is to be lazy, stupid, and sluggish in a college of Rome! One needs only to kiss the feet of the Pope, and fall into a perfect slumber there! The Pope thinks for him! "When I shall have completely bound myself to obey my superior, if he abuses his authority over me to deceive me by false doctrines, or if he commands me to do things which I consider wrong and dishonest, shall I not be lost if I obey him?"

He answered: "You will never have to give an account to God for the actions that you do by the order of your legitimate superiors. Is it not because they raised their miserable reason above that of God? They had the promise of eternal life if they had submitted their reason to that of their Supreme Master. They were lost on account of their rebelling against the authority, the reason of God. All the evils, the errors, the crimes by which the world is over flooded come from the same revolt of the human will and reason against the will and reason of God. God reigns yet over a part of the world, the world of the elect, through the Pope, who controls the teachings of our infallible and holy Church. In submitting ourselves to God, who speaks to us through the Pope, we are saved. My superior was honest in his convictions. The hand of the wizard remains invisible. On that shore of abject and degrading superstitions I had to land after sailing seven years in the bark called a college of the Church of Rome!

The intellectual part of the studies in a college of Rome, and it is the same in a convent, is therefore entirely worthless. I know that the priests of Rome can show a certain number of intelligent men in every branch of science who have studied in their colleges. But these remarkable men had from the beginning secretly broken for themselves the chains with which their superiors had tried to bind them. The Church of Rome boasts of Bossuet, the Bishop of Meaux, as one of the greatest men she ever had. Those pupils of Roman Catholic colleges of whom sometimes the priests so imprudently boast, have gone out from the hands of their Jesuit teachers to proclaim their supreme contempt for the Roman Catholic priesthood and Papacy. Voltaire studied in a Roman Catholic college, and it was probably when at their school he nerved himself for the terrible battle he has fought against Rome. Cavour, in Italy, had studied in a Roman Catholic college also, and under that very roof it is more than probable that his noble intelligence had sworn to break the ignominious fetters with which Rome had enslaved his fair country. The most eloquent of the orators of Spain, Castelar, studied in a Roman Catholic college; but hear with what eloquence he denounces the tyranny, hypocrisy, selfishness and ignorance of the priests.

Papineau studied under the priests of Rome in their college at Montreal. The whole life of Papineau was a struggle to wrest Canada from their grasp. When, in 1792, France wanted to be free, she understood that the priests of Rome were the greatest enemies of her liberties. The colleges and nunneries are the high citadels from which the Pope darts his surest missiles against the rights and liberties of nations. The colleges and nunneries of the priests are the secret places where the enemies of progress, equality and liberty are holding their councils and fomenting that great conspiracy the object of which is to enslave the world at the feet of the Pope.

The colleges and nunneries of Rome are the schools where the rising generations are taught that it is an impiety to follow the dictates of their own conscience, hear the voice of their intelligence, read the Word of God, and worship their Creator according to the rules laid down in the Gospel.

It is in the colleges and nunneries of Rome that men learn that they are created to obey the Pope in everything, that the Bible must be burnt, and that liberty must be destroyed at any cost all over the world. bible study

Google Logo ~ Today would have been Will Eisner’s 94th birthday, as a pretty cool company Google has a special logo, for Will Eisner.

Google Logo - Will Eisner Birthday Celebration

Eisner was a participant in, and inspiration for, much of the best in American comics, also as a friend and mentor to multiple generations of comics artists. He was born on March 6, 1917 and died 87 years after January 3, 2005.

Eisner was so important to the industry, they've an annual award for cartoonist named “the Eisners” or Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards.

The following excerpt from google free blog, written by Scott McCloud about the struggle of Will Eisner in popularizing comics.

Eisner was one of the first cartoonists to understand the power of visual education, and wrote eloquently about the process of making comics in Comics and Sequential Art (1985) and Graphic Storytelling (1996). As early as 1941, he publicly advocated treating comics as a distinct literary and artistic form, and—nearly four decades later—was instrumental in the rise of the graphic novel in America, beginning with A Contract with God in 1978.
